An ex naval seaman who passed over the bar on March 10th. During his time he was a Science Teacher also an amateur radio broadcaster.

The Halifax branch of the RNA wishes to express our deepest sympathy to Craig and Ian and family at this time.

Clifford Shannon

Crossed the bar 27th January 2008 at the age of 83. Clifford served in LCT's at the Normandy landings. He was a member of the Landing ships association. He was also a very talented local artist some of his paintings being shown in art galleries in London.

George James

It is with regret we announce the slipping over the bar of SM George (jessie) James of the Droylsden branch of the RNA.

He was a good shipmate to all the Halifax branch members always welcoming during our annual visits to Ashton.

We salute you Jessie. (Up spirits)

Edwin Dobson

It is with deep regret that we announce the crossing of the bar of our shipmate Edwin Dobson who passed away two days after the funeral of his dear wife Eunice.

He served on the following stations : HMS Royal Arthur, HMS Vernon, HMS Pembroke, HMS Baganza (LST385). Enlisted in December 1942 and took his discharge August 1946 as a Petty Officer EM4. He was awarded the following medals: 1939-1945 Star, The Burma Star, The Defence Medal, and the 1939-45 Medal.

John Batchelor

It is with deep regret we announce the crossing of the bar of our shipmate John who passed away on the 19th of September aged 83 he was the quiet member of our ships company and will be sorely missed.

John joined the Royal Navy in July 1944 and served for three and a half years. Although not a native of Halifax he became a local and could mimic our accent.

George Sparkes.

With regret we announce that George crossed the bar on Sunday last, he was a member of the Halifax branch for many years and will be sadly missed. He served in the fabled Minehunter flotilla based on Lowestoft during the second world war.

George was married to Pam they had eight children

The internment takes place at 1100 at the Ludden Foot church of St Mary's.Will all shipmates please attend.

A piper will be present to play the lament.
